DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT ENTEBBE AIRPORT FOR OUR 3-WEEKS UGANDA SAFARI

You will be met by your assigned guide from Hamerkop Safaris at the airport and transfer to Kampala overnight. Along the way you get a glimpse of Lake Victoria and the first taste of Uganda as you see the busy street life passing by the windows. Check-in and relax after the flight to be ready for the 21 days Uganda safari starting the next day.

DAY 2: TRANSFER TO THE FOOTHILLS OF MOUNT. ELGON.

After your early morning breakfast, transfer top Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa in eastern Uganda with en-route lunch at Mbale as you gaze at the table Mountains in the background of the town. Continue to Sipi and hike the three falls that originate from Mount. Elgon. This hike is a good start to prepare you for the Mount. Elgon climbing experience.

After the hike, check-in at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 3: SIPI FALLS TO MOUNT. ELGON

In the morning after breakfast, go for a hike to the Mt. Elgon forest exploration center for the Volcanoes Climbing experience. The hike shall provide you with views of regenerating forests, fields of colorful flowers, extensive stands of bamboo, and several bird species like the black chested bee-eater and numerous caves and falls along the hiking trail.

A long ‘arm’ of Mt. Elgon bears the Wanale trails loop site. It has vertical cliffs of the ridge and several cascading waterfalls that make a very scenic drive. Look for petrified wood in the Khauka caves as you enjoy the splendid panoramic view over the plains of Eastern Uganda.

Have lunch boxes during the hike and late evening descend down, return to your hotel and retire after dinner.

DAY 4: MOUNT. ELGON TO PIAN UPE GAME RESERVE

Today you will have an early morning breakfast, check out of your hotel and set off for Pian-Upe Game reserve that lies North-East of Sipi.

Have lunch at your safari camp and later embark on the trek to visit the Karamajong homesteads who are the native occupants of this area. Engage with them as they take you through their social way of life.

Return to your safari camp and retire for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: PIAN UP TO KIDEPO NATIONAL PARK

Wake up for early morning breakfast and set out for a game drive in the Pian-Upe Game reserve.

While out in the fields, look out for the honey badger, the Roan Antelope, Giraffe, and lots of bird species including the silver bird and other unique bird species like the Karamoja Apalis.

After the Game drive, drive out for lunch at Moroto and thereafter embark on your journey to Kidepo National Park reaching late evening.

Check in to your safari lodge, have dinner and retire for the overnight.

DAY 6: KIDEPO NATIONAL PARK. (GAME DRIVE AND COMMUNITY TOUR)

Today you will wake up early morning and have an early breakfast after which you will set off for a game drive safari through the park.

The game drive shall offer you an opportunity to view spectacular scenery in the Narus valley and encounter lots of animals including Elephants, lions, big herds of buffalo, hyenas, and zebras, among others.

Kidepo is well known for its serenity and big numbers of wildlife and unique birds like the secretary bird that can only be seen in this part of the country.

Return to the lodge for lunch and rest before going for a community tour in the Karamajong communities on the outskirts of the park.

On your way back to the lodge, have a sunset game drive and beautiful scenic views of the park.

Have dinner at your lodge and overnight stay

DAY 7: KIDEPO NATIONAL PARK TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

After your early morning breakfast, check out of your lodge for the journey to Murchison Falls National Park.

As you drive out, you have another opportunity for yet another game drive to spot perhaps what you missed on the previous game drives.

Have lunch en-route and check into Murchison Falls National Park in the late afternoon.

On your drive to the lodge, another game drive awaits you. With the unique serenity of rolling hills and varsity of grasslands and animals for you to gaze at.

Check into your lodge, be treated to a yummy dinner, and retire for the overnight.

DAY 8: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK (GAME DRIVE AND BOAT CRUISE)

After early morning breakfast, join your guide for yet another version of a fabulous game drive. Spot out for Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Giraffe, Buffalo, and herds of antelope.

The game drive gives you a chance to spot unique birds like the Northern Carmine Bee-eater, Red-throated Bee-eater, a Silver bird among others.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and prepare for your afternoon boat cruise on the Victoria Nile.

The boat cruise takes you to the bottom of the falls, look out for various schools of hippos, crocodiles, and elephants, and buffalo quenching on the waters of the Nile.

The cruise will take you to the point where your hike to the top of the falls starts from. The hike takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour with the unique serenity of the views of the Nile and the magnificent Murchison Falls as thousands of tones of water forced through an eight-meter gorge to plunge 45m below.

After your hike, cross the Nile back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 9: MURCHISON FALLS TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Wake up for yet another day of adventure. Have your early morning breakfast, check out of your lodge, and another version of a game drive before you drive out of the park.

Have lunch en-route to Kibale as you are showered with views of the Albertine escarpments in your background.

Be treated with enormous views of Tea estates through Fort Portal on your journey to Kibale National park where you shall reach late evening.

Check in to your lodge, for dinner and overnight. Relax as you wait yet another day of adventure.

DAY 10: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK. (CHIMP TRACKING AND BIGODI SWAMP WALK)

Early morning breakfast and attend a briefing by the park rangers after which you will set out for chimp trekking within the Kibale Forest. The guides will equip you with lots of information about the forest and the different flora and fauna including a colorful variety of butterflies. After an exciting search for the elusive chimpanzees, you will return to the Lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp area and look out for most of the water-loving bird species. The forest /Park has almost 335 species of birds with the Green Breasted Pita topping the list and therefore a good place for birders. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.

DAY 11: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

You will have breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will arrive well in time to enjoy lunch at the hotel and in the afternoon; go for a game drive in the Northern crater area for the black craters at the base of the Rwenzori Mountains and a visit to the salt lake.

You may be able to see some animals like Elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and warthogs among others. Return to the lodge and enjoy the evening sunset as it fades behind the majestic Rwenzori Mountains. Dinner and overnight at selected lodge. Meanwhile, prepare for an early morning game drive through the Kasenyi plains looking out for Lions and Leopards.

DAY 12: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK. (GAME DRIVE AND BOAT CRUISE)

You will have an early morning breakfast and go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi area which is well known as the Kob mating grounds and therefore a perfect spot to see a lot of antelopes like the Kobs, Bushbucks, and Hartebeests. This makes the plains a good spot for the lions that come following their prey, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and warthogs.

This game drive takes 2-3 hours and you will return to the lodge to clean up and later have lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise on the renowned Kazinga channel – famous for its highest hippopotamus concentration in the world! You will also see a lot of crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and other animals as they come down to drink and bathe plus plenty of birds on the channel banks. Return to the lodge for dinner and a great night at the selected lodge.

DAY 13: ISHASHA TREE CLIMBING LIONS TO BWINDI NATIONAL PARK

This morning, you will check out of your lodge and set out for a game drive in the Ishasha area bracing yourself for a chance to see the rare tree-climbing lions. The climbing lions can be seen lounging in the fig trees during mid-morning as they rest from the previous night’s strenuous hunt!

You will have lunch in the Ishasha sector and proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park in preparation for your next day Gorilla trek. Dinner and overnight stay at the selected lodge.

DAY 14: BWINDI (GORILLA TRACKING AND THE PYGMIES)

After early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for briefing with your packed lunch and later go for gorilla trekking, this could take 4-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas.

After trekking, meet your driver and transfer back to the hotel where you will unwind as you reflect on the memorable gorilla trek. Later in the evening, visit the Batwa (pygmies) community for a cultural encounter. Dinner and overnight as above.

DAY 15: BWINDI TO LAKE BUNYONYI

Today after breakfast, you will transfer from Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale District. On your way, the spectacular views of the rolling hills and terraces are not something you should miss out.

Check in to your hotel, have lunch and relax.

After lunch and a bit of relaxing, we embark on a community tour and cycling experiences through the jugged rolling hills.

Later, return to the lodge for dinner and spectacular views of the lake, retire as we wait for the next day.

DAY 16: BUNYONYI (BOAT RIDE AND ZIP LINING)

The day begins with a boat trip for sightseeing and birding on Lake Bunyonyi. Feel the wonders of nature as you will see big terraced hills, big valleys, big everything with people and forests! This can be combined with a nature walk and cultural visit to the Pygmies community to explore their lifestyle.

As you get back to your lodge from the boat ride, you visit the Supreme adventure park that lies on one of the islands for the Zip Lining experience across the lake.

From there, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 17: LAKE BUNYONYI TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Have breakfast and embark on your journey to Lake Mburo National Park driving across the rolling hills and slopes of Kabale – known as “the Switzerland of Africa” and a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch.

Proceed to Lake Mburo and enter the Park with a game drive en-route which will enable you to see animals like zebras, topis, elands, impalas, buffaloes, and antelopes. Dinner and overnight at selected Lodge.

DAY 18: LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK (BAOT RIDE, GAME DRIVE, NATURE WALK)

Wake up for an early morning game drive and search for early risers and all other animals that you missed out in the previous evening’s game drive. Return to the Lodge for late breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo which will get you quite close to Crocodiles and Hippos.

For birders, this is one of the best places to find African Finfoot, Papyrus Gonolek, Bush-Shrike, etc. The evening is spent on an evening boat cruise amidst the Hippos and relaxing at the Lodge observing game moving in the park. Later have dinner and overnight at the selected lodge.

DAY 19: LAKE MBURO TO KAMPALA. (EQUATOR EXPERIENCE EN-ROUTE)

Breakfast will be served early and after go for the hyena walk within the Park. This is a guided walk where you will be escorted by a park ranger from the Uganda wildlife Authority for security purposes and to provide you with more information about the Park and the trail.

Return to the lodge after the walk and transfer to Kampala with a lunch stopover en route and at the equator for photography and the experiment. Proceed to Kampala arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at selected hotel.

DAY 20: ALL DAY KAMPALA (CITY TOUR AND NIGHTLIFE)

After your breakfast, we shall go for the City tour. This shall take us to to the Kabaka’s  (King’s) Palace of Buganda and shall follow the royal mile. Then later proceed to the Gadafi National Mosque where we shall have a 360 degrees view of Kampala City.

After here, we shall go and visit the Bahai temple, the only Bahai faith temple in Africa from where we shall continue to Namugongo Martyr’s shrine where 46 Ugandans were burnt on the orders of a traditional king for their religious faith.

Later, we shall return to the city for lunch, and visit the National Museum before joining Ndere cultural center for a traditional dance and music evening treat.

Return to your hotel after for dinner and overnight.

DAY 21: SPA AND DEPARTURE

After breakfast, today, check out of your hotel and go for a massage at a health spa, that shall help to relieve off the fatigue of the long safari.

You will be driven back to the airport for your flight back home and end of the safari.
